Wrapping & Paint Protection Film
How much will it cost to wrap my car?
This is dependent upon the make of the vehicle, how far you would like it wrapped and the material being used to wrap it. Some vehicles have more complex shapes and curves and require more effort and disassembly to correctly wrap. If you are after a complete unified colour change, inner doors, door jambs, boot apertures and under bonnets can also be covered to give a seamless uniform colour throughout. We use and recommend the most premium vinyl material available, as you get what you pay for ultimately. For exact pricing on your next wrap job, shoot us an email or call.
How long do wraps last?
This all comes down to how well you look after your car. Various grades of film have varying life spans and so the better you look after it, washing and vinyl care, the longer it will last. Professionally applied wraps generally last 5-7 years, if properly maintained. Flashy colours, chromes and highlighter effects do take away from the lifespan of the film as they don’t contain UV protection. Like everything, you will enjoy the benefits of the wrap for the longest time, if you keep the vinyl clean, park out of the sun and have it installed by Motory Automotive easier to remove, also.
Can you wrap a car with a bad paint job?
Vinyl is not designed to hide defective paintwork, and so will show most defects under the film. Some rock chips and deep scratches may be covered as the film is fairly thin. In some cases and colours it may make it appear more evident(Matte and Satin). Rust is a NO-NO, as vinyl doesn’t stick to rust. The biggest concern with bad paint is when it comes time to remove the wrap. You may end up with paint pulling up with the vinyl.
How can I take care of my wrap?
Try to wash your wrapped car regularly, preferably by hand, just like you would a nice paint job. 2 bucket method with a quality ph. neutral soap is recommended.
Paint Protection Film (PPF)
Is Paint protection Film really as good as they say?
Paint protection film (PPF) is a thermoplastic urethane, often self-healing, film applied to painted surfaces of a new or used car in order to protect the paint from stone chips, bug splatters, and minor abrasions. As the film is clear the underside paintwork should be in the best possible condition for proper adhesion, longer life span and easy removal when necessary. PPF comes in gloss and matt variants to maintain or change the finish of your car. It is now also available in gloss black. PPF film is about twice as thick as vinyl meaning better protection for your ride. As the film is clear it will highlight impurities and defects under the paint, so we normally recommend multi-stage washes and machine paint correction before application. Our state of the art PPF and Vinyl application bay is temperature-controlled and dust controlled to ensure optimum settings for install.
